Position Overview: 

The Fleming Advisors Tax Analyst is involved in all aspects of tax preparation, compliance and research.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Tax return preparation and filing, including gathering all necessary client documentation, preparing the correct return documents, and preparing federal, state and local returns on behalf of clients by the given deadlines. 

  • Advise clients on tax matters, including advice regarding applicable tax deductions and credits in order to minimize overall tax liabilities. 

  • Effectively follows instruction and meets time budgets and deadlines for assigned projects. 

  • Understands and adheres to client confidentiality standards; demonstrating awareness of firm's risk management policies and procedures, by identifying and referring ethical, independence and conflict issues to manager and/or partner. 

  • Execute tax planning appointments with clients.

  • Explore industry specialization and industry focused service. This may include attending peer group meetings or industry organization involvement. 

  • Continually study updates to tax law, including federal, state and local statutes that impact clients tax filings, deductions and documentation. 

  • Communicate effectively with your team striving for open and honest dialogue in all interactions. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or other four year degree with equivalent accounting experience.

  • 1-5 years tax experience in public accounting

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Strong analytical, teamwork and organizational skills

  • Integrity, maturity, dependability, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic

  • PC proficiency, including spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software applications 

  • Analytical skills with high detail orientation 

  • Research and understand professional frameworks, standards and guidance 

  • Knowledge of technology and tools best practices including tax software 

  • Quality control 

  • Risk assessment, analysis and management 

  • Measurement analysis and interpretation
