Income Tax Resource Center

Our step-by-step process to filing your income taxes

We created this page as a resource for our clients with the intent of making tax time a little less stressful!

Consider These Tips for a Smoother Tax Season:

  • Create a "Tax Folder" (digital or physical) for each year and place your tax related documents in the folder throughout the year.

  • Create a checklist of the documents you normally provide your tax preparer each year and check off the items as your gather them.

  • Once you have gathered all of the items on your checklist, submit them to your tax preparer using a secure platform such as "File Exchange" to protect yourself from identity thieves.

Income Tax Process

Our Process

1

Gather your tax documents.

2

Login to your secure client portal and upload your documents.

3

Review your tax return and sign your efile forms.

For most, this is the hardest part of the process! See the tips we compiled above to make this step less stressful.

Consider using a Tax Organizer to help you gather all of the necessary information we will need to prepare an accurate tax return.

Login to your secure client portal and upload your documents using the File Exchange tool.

Once uploaded, our office will automatically be notified and your tax return will be placed in line for preparation. Visit our FAQ page to see how long we expect to take to complete your tax return.

Login to your secure client portal to review your tax return.

Your completed tax returns will be delivered to your secure Client Portal each year as a .pdf document which can also be downloaded. Carefully review your tax return and the included "Filing Instructions" which summarizes your tax due/refunds and estimates taxes (if applicable).

When your tax returns have been completed, you will receive an automated email (from: no-reply@thomsonreuters.com) generated by our tax software outlining the next steps you need to take.

Important: your tax returns will NOT be electronically filed until we receive your signed efile authorization forms, engagement letter and payment for our services.

After your tax returns have been successfully filed, you will receive an automated email (from: efile@efileservices.net) our tax software including acknowledgements from the appropriate taxing agencies that your tax returns were accepted.
